Un total de 234 arquitectos aspiran finalmente a rehabilitar la Estación de Benalúa, futura sede de Casa Mediterráneo en Alicante. La Oficina de Concursos de Arquitectura de Alicante (OCOA) ha registrado desde el pasado viernes 15 enero –fecha de la celebración de la visita de los técnicos a la Estación de Benalúa- hasta las 24 horas de ayer miércoles -cierre del plazo para la inscripción-, una avalancha de inscripciones de equipos de arquitectura interesados en este concurso, con lo que en cuestión de cinco días se ha duplicado la cifra de concursantes. Del total de equipos inscritos a este concurso 20 son extranjeros, entre ellos 15 italianos y otros de nacionalidad alemana, francesa, estadounidense, polaca y peruana. El resto son equipos nacionales, mayoritariamente de la Comunidad Valenciana, y también procedentes de Madrid (29), Cataluña (24), Andalucía (11), Murcia (7) y Galicia (6).
La OCOA prevé publicar mañana, 22 de enero, un listado provisional de inscritos y excluidos, ofreciendo a los concursantes unos días para subsanar deficiencias.
Respecto al quinto miembro del jurado del Concurso, que será elegido por los propios participantes, la OCOA ha explicado que entre los más votados se encuentran los alicantinos Javier García-Solera y Alfredo Payá. No obstante, estos dos arquitectos no podrán ejercer este cargo debido a que participan también en este Concurso con proyecto propio.
Tal y como informara el pasado viernes la directora general de Casa Mediterráneo, Yolanda Parrado, el jurado estará formado asimismo por los arquitectos Iñaki Ábalos, Victoria Acebo y Annette Gigon. Parrado será el quinto miembro del jurado.
El próximo 24 de febrero finalizará el plazo para la entrega de las propuestas realizadas por los arquitectos inscritos, mientras que el jurado fallará el concurso en marzo. Casa
Mediterráneo prevé que para septiembre esté desarrollado el proyecto ganador, cuyos arquitectos dirigirán el inicio de la ejecución de las obras, previsto para finales de año. Casa Mediterráneo espera que en 2012 finalicen los trabajos de rehabilitación.
El Concurso del anteproyecto para rehabilitar la Estación de Benalúa es un concurso internacional y anónimo abierto a todos los arquitectos que deseen participar. El anteproyecto debe ser respetuoso con los valores originales, históricos y artísticos del edificio. Pero, al mismo tiempo, la sede de Casa Mediterráneo quiere ser un ejemplo de arquitectura puesta al servicio del ciudadano, que promueva la sostenibilidad y el respeto al medio ambiente. El clima y la luz del Mediterráneo son factores que tradicionalmente han tenido en cuenta los arquitectos en sus diseños y deben inspirar el proyecto de Casa Mediterráneo.
En consecuencia, se valorarán las propuestas que integren soluciones arquitectónicas y constructivas que supongan un mínimo consumo energético, un máximo aprovechamiento de los recursos naturales y el empleo de materiales y componentes que supongan un menor impacto medioambiental. Se valorarán además las propuestas que, dando respuesta a las exigencias funcionales y tecnológicas actuales integren y recuperen valores específicos de la arquitectura vernácula mediterránea.
